Woodland Hills, CA, August 11, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Over the last year, Gerald Mathews of Team G Tennis has volunteered and hosted many athletic camps for the children of Hope Garden’s Family Center (HGFC). Mathews has enjoyed teaching the fundamentals of tennis to these children experiencing homelessness and currently living in Union Rescue Mission’s transitional living facility.
During the winter and spring, various camps were offered to approximately 80 children from HGFC, it became apparent that three of these kids were driven to learn more and work hard for results with Team G. Showing the most enthusiasm about the game, staying focused in class, practicing footwork and tennis technique on and off the courts Cameron (age 13), Devon (age 9) and Mary (age 9) were ready for more training time with Team G. The head coach and owner of Team G, Gerald Mathews, loves being able to mentor and expose all kids to the game of tennis.
Its been a pleasure working with these children and giving them the opportunity to better themselves with the Team G scholarship, we look forward to expanding our scholarship program in the near future.
